International Training Course in Transplant Coordination was held in Istanbul on December 10-14, 2018. 60 specialists from 30 countries participated in the course.
Organ transplant coordinators… They are the heroes that work tirelessly behind the scenes… 60 organ transplant coordinators from 30 countries met in International Training Course in Transplant Coordination. The course was held in the scope of International Transplant Network (ITN) project which is supported by Istanbul Development Agency (İSTKA) on December 10-14, 2018. Turkish doctors and organ transplant coordinators shared their experiences in the course supported by Foreign Economic Relations Board DEİK and Health Sciences Institute.
Participants from Afghanistan, Albania, Belarus, Croatia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Georgia, Hungary, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Moldova, Mongolia, Palestine, Romania, Senegal, Sudan, Tanzania and United Arab Emirates talked about their shortages in their countries and were trained on these matters.
Brain death diagnosis, organ retrieval, preservation and transport, breaking bad news and family interview, transplant ethics were some of the hot topics of the course.
Participants visited Yeditepe University Kosuyolu Hospital and International Transplant Network Center. They practiced all the stages of organ transplant with simulation training equipment.
